The homestead of the Slovenian Roman Catholic priest, dramatist, writer, essayist and editor Dr. Stanka Cajnkarja is in the village of Savci. Dr. Stanko Cajnkar, narrator, essayist and dramatist was born in 1900. He was born as the first of eleven children. In the year 1938 he took the degree of a doctor on the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana. He worked in Črnomlelj, where he taught Religious Education, Latin and Philosophy at the gymnasium. In 1947 he became an associate professor of biblical studies on the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana which he led from 1950 to 1966 as dean. Stanko Cajnkar described his memories about childhood and youth in the story Križnarjevi. A memorial plate was placed at his birthplace in Savci. The municipality Sveti Tomaž got in the year 2012 the homestead of Stanko Cajnkar as a gift with the purpose, that the municipality renovates it and keeps it as a heritage of a great man from our village. In 2016 the municipality started to renovate Cajnkar’s homestead and finished it successfully.
